Primrose Sands
Helen Stubbings' Primrose Sands collection, named for a small seaside village near her home in Tasmania, started from her photograph of wallpaper at a friends' beach shack. Although that wallpaper was the inspiration for the main geometric print of rosettes, the bright, bold colors were inspired by popular 1980s colors: pinks, reds, teals, and grays…and reflect her memories of good times at the beach…relaxation, peace, freedom, and perhaps a bit of romance at the seaside in an Australian summer.
In addition to the wallpaper geometric, there's a pink, red, teal, and gray stripe, a floral lace, dainty scrolls, and a leaf texture on a woven ground. Visualize wide, sassy borders for quilts from the large geometrics, fussy cut rosettes for appliquéd posies on wall hangings, bright jackets and shirts for summertime and cruise wear, and fun beach and grocery totes. These prints would also make an adorable nursery ensemble for the modern baby girl.
