Welcome to our first project for 2024 - Charmed X and O's

If you're new here and just joining in, thankyou and welcome to a journey of completed quilts! Yes I say completed because the idea of this program is that the projects are so simple you can complete them in a day and you will actually finish something!  Whilst also getting to indulge in beautiful fabrics - those charm packs and ranges of fabrics that you just cannot resist.

This project is a simple X or O block giving secondary designs depending on how you layout your colours. Ive gone with a colourwash type layout but you could randomly mix also.  I have added a border to this one to make it a little larger.

But there are only so many of each so first in gets the worm in this case.  You will see how many are left as stock gets low of each so choose quickly.

For this quilt you need your charm pack - one coordinating fabric and a binding fabric. We've also selected some great widebacks to choose from. Note: if you choose a wideback it may also work for the binding using the leftovers)

Charmed X&O's

Quilt measures 37" x 41"

This is our tenth simple project -  Charmed X&O's - and includes one secondary/coordinating fabric and a border. 
This quilt  requires two extra fabrics from your stash (plus backing and binding) or we've included our suggestions here. If you'd like it larger feel free to add some more outer borders or if available at the end purchase a second charm square pack and double it.  And my full colour pattern will give you the quickest, simplest and most accurate methods and tips to make it. 

Extra quilt requirements:

13” /33cm coord secondary fabric
22"/55cm border fabric

10”/25cm binding fabric
45” x 50“/1.2x 1.25m batting and backing fabric
(includes 8" extra for a longarmer)

We have selected some coordinating options to match each charm pack for the secondary, border and binding fabrics. We used a Marcus fabric by Karen Styles for the coord fabric, a Moda Grunge Cosmic for the border fabric and a Blueberry Delight charm pack to make our sample which is soft and pretty this time.  Our binding was the Grunge Blue steel to frame it nicely.

Backing fabrics

We have chosen some backing fabrics that will work well with the charm packs. As they are all widebacks if you order "1"  then there will be plenty for a commercial quilter as well.  We are cutting and sending 50" - enough for yourself or for a longarmer. Note: there will be enough leftover for binding if you choose to use it.
