Fancywork Box – Green Cameo

The Fancywork Box collection by Australian designer, Helen Stubbings of Hugs' n Kisses was inspired by the embroidery stitches her grandmother taught her, the vintage doily designs she loves, and her own first fancywork box, made by her grandmother from a shoe box. Helen's Fancywork Box panel features 8 vintage-inspired doilies printed with faux crocheted edges and red, blue, and green stitching guidelines and 7 round doilies that teach basic embroidery stitches. Coordinates include florals, more doilies with cute vintage images, daisy dots, and a pretty ribbon and bow lattice. Helen has introduced fresh new greens in these designs and extended her Basically Hugs palette of cream, grey, pink, and blue prints with apple greens that coordinate perfectly with the Fancywork Box prints. 

Embroider over the guidelines on the panel's doilies or use them just as printed. Cut away the faux crocheted edges on the doilies and crochet your own edges, or add a rick rack or lace edge. Fussy cut and stitch the doilies into a pieced quilt, wall hanging, pillow, table runner, or vest, or make labels for your quilting and sewing projects with them. Stitch up a sweet quilt for a nursery or little girl's bedroom, girl's dresses, aprons, and play clothes, and pretty shirts and skirts for Mom.
