Designed by Helen Stubbings of Hugs ‘n Kisses, the Mary Mary Block of the Month Quilt brings together embroidery, appliqué, and gentle machine piecing using her signature EasyAPP turned-edge appliqué method. This quilt features Helen’s newest fabric collection, Molly & May, created with Two Green Zebras under the Devonstone Collection brand.

The design blends soft, nostalgic florals with whimsical stitchery, perfect for makers who enjoy slow stitching with a modern, easy-prep method. With full-sized layout guides, ready-to-use iron-on templates, and a curated Cosmo thread palette, this quilt offers a beautiful balance of precision and creativity.  The fabric kits included a printed stitchery panel with 16 designs. Only 8 are required for the BOM quilt. We will be designing and offering other smaller projects that the remaining stitcheries can also be used in.

Fabric kits - include all fabrics for stitchery designs (pre-printed x 16 - you only need 8 of them for the quilt), applique, quilt top, binding and backing - batting not included.

Cosmo thread kits: 9 Cosmo stranded floss skeins.
Mylar circle templates: set of Mylar circle templates to assist in bias stem placement (optional)

OR Nested circle rulers for the same purpose

Note: All instructions in the pattern will be referencing the methods and templates included in the full pattern and paper set using Helen's Easy app method  and the fabrics designed for the program. Stitchery designs are not included in the pattern as they are pre-printed onto the fabric panel - so this will need to be purchased also.

Q. When does the BOM launch?
A. The Mary Mary BOM will officially begin on 16th May 2026 with a welcome in the Facebook group, but you can join in at any time.

Q. How many instalments will the quilt pattern be broken down into?
A. The Mary Mary BOM pattern will be delivered complete. The pattern will be broken into a General Instructions booklet and 6-10 monthly full sized layout guides and instructions.

Q. What techniques are used in the Mary Mary quilt?
A. The Mary Mary quilt uses embroidery, appliqué, and machine piecing. Helen uses her EasyAPP method throughout with custom iron-on leave-in paper templates that can be stitched by hand or machine.

Q. Is there hand embroidery on the quilt?
A. Yes, there are 16 simple stitchery blocks on the Molly and May stitchery panel. Only 8 are required for the quilt.

Q. Which Cosmo embroidery threads are required for the Mary Mary Quilt?
A. The Mary Mary quilt uses Cosmo Stranded Embroidery Floss in the following colours: 104, 106, 474, 923, 924, 980, 981, 1105 and 2041.

Q. Does the quilt require templates? If so, how will the templates be provided?
A. All precision custom-cut applique Iron-on papers required are provided in the Mary Mary BOM Pattern Pack (no tracing required), produced by Hugs ‘n Kisses.

Q. Is the program sold as a Monthly BOM or a complete kit?

Q. What is included in the BOM Kit?
A. The Mary Mary BOM Kit will contain all the fabrics required to complete the quilt top and binding, including a printed stitchery panel, and wide backing fabric from the Molly & May fabric collection.

Q. What is included in the Pattern Pack?
A. The Mary Mary BOM Pattern Pack will contain a full colour pattern booklet, APP Iron-on™ paper templates for turned edge appliqué, full sized layout guides and a wooden thread keeper. It does not include the stitchery designs which are printed on the fabric panel included in the kits.
