QI Nested circle rulers

These rulers have been designed as both a design & marking tool, and cutting ruler.

For designing:

Use the ‘size’ on each ring to draw around the outside edge with marker to make the perfect circle. The number on the ring is the outside measurement.

Drawing both on the inside and outside will give you a 1/4” seam allowance. The inner ring will be 1/4“ smaller than the marked size.

Use a single ring to place over a design to determine the best size to use (eg Rachaeldaisy Whizz bang blocks, circular stitchery or applique blocks)

Use the ‘angles’ to break up a circle into even sections for wedges, dresdens or even placement of points or petals. The angles are in 22.5° increments which make a total of 16 wedges.

Use the holes in each ring to insert marker and spin to draw circles (for this option have all circles nested and spin just the ring size you need).

For cutting:

To safely cut a circle nest all circles inside the size you require. Hold firmly in the centre with all fingers away from the edge. Cut with a rotary cutter against the outer ruler as you normally would. A rotating cutting mat is preferred to turn your work so as to safely cut a complete circle.

DO NOT try cutting using a single ring. The single ring will ‘bend’ with the pressure of the blade against it and you cannot safely hold a 1/4” ring without risking cutting a finger with the blade.

Note: Our rulers are cut from 3mm green fluro acrylic and as fine rings are not strong. Please store on card or in hard packaging to prevent breakage. They are shipped with the protective paper backing still attached to allow for safe passage - please remove this before use.
